    STUDY IN NEW ZEALAND

    New Zealand has an international reputation as a provider of quality education. Every year New Zealand welcomes students from all over the world.     Tertiary Study Options:

    Universities:

    The quality of a New Zealand university education is well recognized internationally. Many New Zealand graduates have achieved international acclaim in their respective fields.

    Polytechnics and Institutes of Technology:

    These institutes are academically and vocationally focused and offer a wide variety of programmes. You may choose from a short course teaching a specific skill or from a wide range of courses leading to a certificate or diploma or degree.


    English Proficiency

    Students are required to provide a proof of their English Language Proficiency by attempting English Language Test such as International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).


    Accommodation & Cost of Living

    It is generally recommended that international students allow NZ$9,000 to $10,000 per year for living and accommodation costs. This includes accommodation, food, travel, textbooks and limited entertainment.

    To study in New Zealand, you will need to apply for a Visa or Permit.

    Student Visa

    A Student Visa is:

    • An endorsement you need in your passport to facilitate your travel to New Zealand for the purpose of study

    Who needs a Student Visa?
    If you are outside of New Zealand, and are coming to New Zealand to study fulltime, you need to apply for a Student Visa.

    Student Permit

    A Student Permit is:

    • An endorsement in your passport, which allows you to study in New Zealand. It will state the expiry date and give the conditions of your permit.

    The conditions of your Student Permit will include details about:

    • Your course of study; and
    • The educational institution; and
    • The location of the institution in New Zealand; and

    Students normally spend a minimum of 3 years to complete a bachelor degree. There are wide ranges of subjects and it is up to the students to choose the direction that the degree will take.

    Who needs a Student Permit?

    If you are a visitor or worker in New Zealand and wish to study full time, you need to apply for a Student Permit.
