Under the new skilled migrant category you need to be of good health and character, have a reasonable standard of English and be aged 55 years or younger. If you meet these requirements and score a minimum of 100 points you will be eligible to submit an Expression of Interest in applying for residence. The Skilled Migrant Category points system will rank Expressions of Interest from highest to lowest allowing New Zealand Immigration Service (NZIS) to select the highest scoring Expressions of Interest. Only those invited by the NZIS to apply for residence may do so.

BUSINESS MIGRATION

The main sub-classes under this type of migration are:

Investment category
Long term business visa / Entrepreneur
Investment Category

This category is based on points system. Points are scored on the basis of a number of factors such as age, business experience and investment funds. The minimum investment level is NZ1,000,000. The minimum age is 25 and the maximum age is 84 years. In this category no English level is required.

Entrepreneur Category

You may apply under the entrepreneur category if you have successfully established a business in New Zealand for a period of at least two years. An application under this category can only succeed if evidence can be provided that a business has been established successfully with the aim to profit New Zealand's economy.

Long Term Business Visa

The Long Term Business Visa (LTBV) can be applied by those people who are interested in applying for residence under the Entrepreneur Category. Applicants must show a business background and that they possess sufficient funds to purchase or set up the business and to support themselves. Applicant must provide complete information about the business proposal and the various steps on how to start the business. Those people who are interested in establishing a business in New Zealand will be granted up to three years business visa.

Employees of Relocating Business Category

You may apply under the Employees of Relocating Business Category if you are a key employee of a business relocating to New Zealand. This category is set up to assist the promotion of New Zealand as a place in which to invest and locate business. Evidence has to be provided regarding the purpose of relocating the business to New Zealand.

FAMILY MIGRATION

The purpose of family migration is to strengthen families and communities. To qualify for this type of migration you must have a family member (spouse / partner, dependant child, brother / sister, parent) who is a resident or Citizen of New Zealand. Your sponsor must be able to provide you and your family full financial and accommodation support for your first two years in New Zealand.
